It is common knowledge that individuals with highly trained skills perform the property survey or boundary survey needed to distinguish boundaries or perimeters for neighborhoods, towns or cities. There is a lot that goes into the development of the areas of land that date back to the beginning of our country. However, when did the first cities come to be? Why did they come to be?

As may be the case where you live, there are several towns near me that are celebrating their anniversaries. They are anniversaries of when the town was first incorporated. One has been around 100 years and the other for 50 years. The other day while driving to work I considered the time when these towns were first thought up - when they were first populated enough to be considered towns. Now, full of houses, gas stations, malls and people that time seems far off.

Generally history doesn't tell us why people decided to create towns or cities, perhaps it just happened naturally. In the United States towns are characterized by their individual states, meaning that each state decides the qualifications that an area must have to become a town or city. The smallest city on record sits in North Dakota with a total population of five. Seems crazy that this could be even considered a city but each state gets to make its own choices.

Further, when a town would like to be updated to city status it is not a simple phone call to the local board or the local governing body. It is a regulated set of paperwork that requires a lot of approval and a generally strict process to meet whatever the state's guidelines may be about becoming a city.

My husband and I live in an area of town that is considered unincorporated, which means it is not part of the neighboring town. Recently, a petition was circulating to allow our area to become part of the neighboring town officially. Basically after the petition is filed then a study is done to determine the feasibility of incorporating the new area into the already existing city or town. It then goes to a public hearing and then an election.

Most of the time while living in the various states we've lived in or the towns or cities we've inhabited we haven't given a second thought to the history in the city or the process behind how the city got started. In fact, it seems most of the time we just think the city was already there. We fail to really realize that a lot of the houses around us weren't there 50 years ago and that a lot of the land might have been used for farming in some places or covered in trees in others. The history behind a city can be fascinating and the next time your city celebrates the anniversary of its incorporation take a minute to read about the history and how and when the city was first founded. You may learn some valuable insights regarding the place you live - things you may never have known otherwise. It can draw you closer to your community and create a little city spirit that may make you more willing to be part of the local happenings.

Among Boise's many featured and famous museums are the Idaho Black History Museum and the Basque Museum and Cultural Center. These two museums differ from the rest of the museums in Boise by dedicating itself to the history and culture of their respective communities.

The Idaho Black History Museum was founded in 1995, built to educate people about the history and culture of African Americans, especially the African Americans from Idaho. It now stands at the former St. Paul Baptist Church Building at Julia Davis Park. St. Paul is one of the two African American churches founded by the Boise people, and is one of the oldest buildings built by the African Americans of Boise. It was a gathering place for the African Americans of Boise long before other social gatherings were established. The church was given to a preservation committee when the St. Paul congregation moved to a new church in 1993, and two years later ws the birth of the Idaho Black History Museum.

The Basque Museum and Cultural Center, on the other hand, focuses and promotes the history and culture of the Basque communities in Idaho. It was established in 1985 at the historic Cyrus Jacobs-Uberuaga House at Grove Street. It is here where the museum grew and flourished. More artifacts and exhibits were shown and developments were made to the place because of the need for more space and exposure. As the years went by, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center grew more and more with many dedicated people investing in making it a proud cultural institution in Idaho.

The Basque Museum and Cultural Center aims in promoting and interpreting the rich and colorful history of the Basque communities, their origins, and their life in America. It aims to preserve Basque history and tradition by researching and educating the people about the background of the Basque communities and the Basque collections.

The museum includes history archives, a library, records and tapes, manuscript materials, artifacts and photographs. The museum also branches out to supporting the Basque community in the area, like, for instance, establishing the first Basque preschool, the Boiseko Ikastola. Currently, the museum is focusing on offering more services to the community such as educational programs, technological improvements, and more Basque social activities.

The Idaho Black History Museum is evidently promoting the same things, and others. Aside from promoting awareness to the people of Idaho, the museum also presents educational and community outreach programs such as literacy programs, workshops, and musical performances.

These two aren't the only notable museums in Boise, Idaho. The Boise Art Museum, the Idaho Historical Museum, and the Discovery Center of Idaho are among the featured places to go to when in Boise. Kalau pasangan anda sedang bersama teman2nya, atau sedang melakukan sebuah aktifitas yang disukainya. Hal yang paling baik adalah jangan berada didekatnya. Jika pasangan anda tidak keberatan dengan keberadaan anda disampingnya, dengan mengajak anda sebagai teman, berarti tidak ada masalah. Namun akan lebih baik dan bijak untuk relationship anda yang sehat jika and memberikan waktu dan ruang untuk pasangan anda bersenang2 dengan 'dunia'nya sendiri. Lakukan aktifitas yang sama seperti yang pasangan anda sedang lakukan. Jika pasangan anda sedang berkumpul dengan teman2, kenapa hal ini tidak anda jadikan sebagai ide yang bagus juga untuk berkumpul bersama teman2 anda? pergi ke gym, ke cinema, ke salon, pokoknya lakukan aktifitas yang membuat ruang anda sedikit fresh.

Diatas hanyalah sekedar tips kecil untuk menyikapi pasangan anda secara normal tanpa pembatasan yang anda berpikir bahwa anda berhak melakukannya. Relationship adalah sebuah pembelajaran untuk bersikap lebih dewasa dalam hidup. Relationship yang gagal atau sukses bukanlah sebuah gambaran sukses tanpa masalah dan gagal tanpa kesuksesan. Apapun keadaan anda saat ini dalam relationship, jangan pernah lupa kalau kita semua sedang belajar.

Ways to Develop the Art of Listening

First of all, active listening is paying attention, concentrating on what is being said. But what if the one talking is a dull speaker? (Were you listening? The answer is in what was just mentioned: 'Concentrate on what is being said.) Though the speaker may lack some polish and even some education, listen for facts that are useful, practical and worth while. For the moment, forget the speakers manner or his appearance. Is what he tells you truthful and beneficial? Do not display the arrogance of one woman who told two visitors:I dont discuss such matters with anyone who doesnt have at least an M.A. degree!

Next, since you can listen four times faster than a person can talk, utilize that time to sort out and classify the information. Associate it with what you already know. Think out the results of application of the information. Dont jump to conclusions, however. Hear the speaker out. Control prejudices so that you do not respond emotionally.Consider the source is not always good counsel to follow. The wise man recognizes truth no matter who speaks it. Jesse Owens was a track and field athlete. Born in USA, his real name is James Cleveland Owens. In 1936 he won 4 gold medals in Berlin, Germany. One medal was won in the 100 meters, one in the 200 meters, one at the long jump and one as part of the 4x100meter relay team. Thus, he became the first American to win 4 gold medals both in track and field.

Jesse Owens' biography begins in Alabama, in Oakville. At the age of nine he moved in Glenville, Cleveland. His teacher called him Jesse as the short for his name - J.C.. Jesse delivered groceries, loaded freight cars and repaired shoes to earn his living. During this very period is when he discovered his passion for running.

He started training at the Fairmount Junior High. His coach was Charles Riley. He put him on the track team. Because he was working after school, his trainings took place before the beginning of the classes. He came to national attention as a student at the East Technical High School in Cleveland. In 1933 he equaled the world records for 100m and long jump. This was during the National High School Championship in Chicago.

In 1936 Hitler was using the Olympic games to show a resurgent Germany. That's when Jesse Owens competed an the Olympiad for the USA. The fact that Jesse won 4 gold medals proved Hitler wrong about his narrow view over african-american people. Jesse Owens won the 100m sprint, the 200m sprint, the long jump and won the fourth medal as part of the 4x100m relay team.

Due to his great performance and the circumstances in which he won, Jesse Owens is considered one of the world's greatest athletes. His biography is a bible for anyone who wants to prove that no matter where you come from, you can do great things in your life.

Jesse James is considered one of the top 100 greatest african-americans of all times.

Some of you reading this might not think tattoos are taboo at all, as a matter of fact I feel the same way. But I have been reading a lot of articles lately about tattoos and I'm starting to wonder myself if tattoos are really as excepted as we all think they are. There is no doubt that tattooing has become extremely popular over the past couple of years even decades. But there are still a lot of people out there that consider them trashy, inappropriate and not acceptable.

For instance, I have read several articles in the past few days warning people if the have a noticeable or tattoo that can not be covered up not to even think about applying for jobs. Of course these jobs are usually with the state or government. But still this goes to show that people are serious about thinking tattoos are inappropriate. Also I read an article last week involving some school that is strongly trying to enforce and get a rule passed at a high school that students can not have tattoos and if they do they have to remain covered up at all times. There are even some night clubs in the United States that are banning people from entering the club if the have a noticeable tattoo. These clubs claim they are having gang problems and that's the only way they think they can control them from not coming in there is be banning anyone with a tattoo. Of course this is making locals and regulars very unhappy with the club.

So even though the tattoo community has come a long way from where they were, it seems we've still got a ways to go.

To all of those people out there that simple hate tattoos and think they are a disgrace to your body, should listen up. A very lucky woman named Hailey Melnyk, may beg to differ. When Haliley was 18 years old she did what most 18 year olds do, she went and got a tattoo. Hailey had just finished an incredible journey through United States and Europe and to mark this great experience in her life she decided to get two swallows tattooed on her hips. Hailey decided to get these two swallows because of the old sailor's tradition. Sailor's got swallows tattoos on them symbolizing the crossing of two oceans.

The very next day, Hailey was having trouble breathing and noticed that her lymph nodes on her thighs were starting to become inflamed. Hailey went to the doctor immediately. And much to her dismay she had some tests done and found out that she had an advanced case of Hodgkin's lymphoma. Hailey has those two swallows to thank for saving her life. It turns out that the stress of getting a tattoo actually helped her cancer manifest itself, otherwise she would have continued going on with her life and would never have known anything was wrong until it was too late.

Hailey truly is thankful to her tattoos and is glad that she got them when she did.

'The (tattoos) were really something that really changed my life, both for the good and the bad. They were definitely the starting point of my new life � I just always wanted to testify my life on my body at that point.'

Hailey is now 25 years old and is cancer free. She has spent nearly 70 hours and $15,000 covering her thankful body in tattoos.

Aesthetics is the study of beauty, and what we find beautiful. Since beauty can have a personal property, many people refer to aesthetics instead as the study of judgments of taste and sentiment. The judgment being studied can be one which occurs based on any of the senses, sight, sound, touch, taste, or smell.

Being able to tell whether something is beautiful is based on us being able to make judgments about what our senses perceive. Aesthetics studies not only what a single person finds beautiful, but whether that sense of beauty is shared with a few people, many people, or almost all people.

Immanuel Kant, writing on aesthetics in 1790 made a distinction between what one finds agreeable, and what one finds beautiful. He stated that beauty required other people to share the sentiment, while simply being fond of something could be based on a personal quirk. In this way being agreeable to something is a personal quality, while beauty, is a quality of the thing being judged.

Later writers such as David Hume linked beauty to personal pleasure, rather than naming it just a judgment of something devoid of interaction. Kant took this idea a step further stating that pleasure may be the result of enjoying something, but for something to be beautiful it must be more than just enjoyable. The pleasure must arrive through our own reflective contemplation. For Kant, beauty has a universal quality, which makes some things beautiful to everyone, regardless of personal taste.

One thing that is important to note is that a judgment of something is based on two values, the philosophical notion of pure beauty, and the cultural values of the time and region you are in. For many philosophers such as Kant, the universal philosophical notion of beauty is the only one that describes real beauty, and taste constitutes personal, cultural fads.

At first glance Ashlee Simposon Wentz doesn't really look like someone that would have a tattoo or six for that matter. Well in case you didn't know Ashlee has at least six tattoos. This just goes to show that anyone can sport a tattoo and people not even notice, that is if they are tastefully done and they are small. Which most of Ashlee's tattoos are small.

3 Arrests in 8 days in one small town, the first arrest an engineer, the second arrest was a Doctor, and the third was a 26 year old. All three of them were using the Internet to lure teenage girls into meeting with them for the express purpose of molesting them.
'The message is, I hope the parents of children will start monitoring what their activities are on the Internet. There are a lot of pedophiles preying on these children,' said Johnston. (James Johnson is a police officer in Ardmore, Alabama).
'Check your caller I.D. Know who your kids are talking to. If you can, go into the history on your computers. Know what times they are talking to these people. They always want to talk when their parents are gone,' he said.
This is such a serious problem that the FBI admits to playing catch-up when it comes to combating clever pedophiles using the Internet, and Law Enforcement agencies plea for more money to combat this growing threat.
The Bottom line is this; try as they may the government can't stop pedophiles or keep online pedophiles away from your children, it's up to you to keep them safe and the good news is that there are methods that can be used to not only stop online predators from harming your children, but protect yourself as well since many predators also threaten families if the victim talks.
One of the methods available is called Blocking software, this software works by blocking objectionable content from ever showing up, the software is updated frequently, often daily with a list of sites (called blacklisted), places that cannot be accessed by the computer, using either a web browser such as Internet Explorer, or an instant messaging client and whenever someone tries to access an Internet page the site is compared to the blacklist and the site/chat room is either allowed or not.
The other method is keylogging, this method work by recording everything that is typed on the keyboard or clicked by the mouse. One of the advantages that is provided by this approach is if your child has been approached online they generally will not come out and tell you since an online pedophile almost always threatens the child or their family if they talk, and many times the child feels guilty or somehow responsible for the pedophile's approach in the first place.
Unfortunately the online pedophile knows this and capitalizes on guilt, shame or fear this is all part of the grooming process that the offender uses to ease the child into an abusive relationship.
Blocking software has its place, and is generally better used for young children since it will keep unwanted material from ever showing up, but it's use is apparent, that is anyone over the age of 8 or perhaps even younger will know that they are being redirected to a safe website, as a parent or guardian you are definitely the best judge of your child and what they should be allowed to see, and where they should go. Which brings us to key logging software, there are many key loggers available some of them will even email you when a certain word or words that you choose are used.
Please remember that child predation is the most underreported crime in the United States, and although the statistics vary greatly depending on the source and many other factors, but the fact remains that as a parent or guardian something should be done.

A sense of beauty is one of the many attributes that distinguish mankind from the animals. But beauty is much more than the sum of those electrochemical impulses, which merely tell us what is going on around us. We do not see a tree, a flower, or a bird in the same way an animal does. Although these objects may offer us no immediate practical benefit, they give us pleasure just the same. Our brain enables us to discern their aesthetic value.

This capacity touches our emotions and enriches our lives. Mary, who lives in Spain, vividly recalls one November evening several years ago when she stood beside a remote lake and watched the sunset. Flying toward me came wave after wave of cranes calling to each another, she says. Thousands of birds were strung out across the crimson sky in spidery patterns. Their annual migratory journey from Russia and Scandinavia had brought them to this Spanish resting-place. The experience was so beautiful that it made me cry.

It is every women's dream to have that gorgeous dream wedding where she can be treated like a princess for a day. Well one couple in Waterbury Connecticut certainly had a different idea of that dream wedding. The couple decided to get married on one of the most unholy days of the years, Halloween. The couple tied the knot at a local tattoo studio on Halloween and to seal the deal the bride and the groom both got tattooed. Fortunately, they did not get each others names tattooed on each other, which is a good thing. But then again the bride got 'werewolf' tattooed on her knuckles and her groom got 'wormfood' tattooed on his knuckles. Even though these words seem out of the ordinary they both have special meaning to each of them. However, if would probably be more romantic if they got each others names tattooed on them but that is besides the point.

This just goes to prove a point that when two people are in love and share a special bond with each other, they don't need the traditional diamond engagement ring and wedding bands to seal their lifetime bond. This couple is obviously the nontraditional couple that has a deep love for each other as well as a great love of tattoos.

So take this as a lesson learned to all your nontraditional people out there that also have a love for tattoos. If you would rather use tattoos to seal your matrimonial bond than by all means head to your local tattoo studio and get inked up. There is a huge plus side to this nontraditional approach, you won't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a engagement ring or wedding band.

All you have to do is sit down and talk with your tattoo artist and describe to them what you want and they can pretty much 9 times out of 10 draw you up something that you want. Don't for a second think you are putting the artist out by being so unsure about your design. A lot of artist like to actually free hand and come up with a design on their own rather than just coping one you brought in.

Usually, when you get a custom tattoo design the artist will tell you to come back later that day or even a couple days later so they have plenty of time to draw up your one of a kind design. Also don't be afraid to let them know every single detail you want and don't want on your tat, and for heavens sake if you do not like what they came up with tell them so they can make the changes. After all you don't want to be stuck with something that you don't like forever.

I thought it would be kind of interesting to find out why people got tattoos. There are several reasons why one would want to get inked. For example, to mark a time in their life, to remember someone they have lost, to recognize a love you have for someone, to support some cause or just because. So what category do do fall into?

I personally fall into the to mark a time in my life category. I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday to mark the occasion of me becoming an adult and being the legal age to get a tattoo. Then I got my second one on my 21st birthday to mark the occasion of being able to legally drink. I was planing on getting another one on my 25th birthday just because I think 25 is a milestone were you are really considered an adult. But that tattoo didn't happen because of the way my hubby feels about them. However, I have been thinking about getting a certain tattoo to mark a milestone in my husband and I's relationship, but I doubt that will ever happen because of the way he feels about it. I had jokingly said when I was 21 that I would get a new tattoo every 5 to 10 years to mark the different age milestones in my life. It's funny how those plans can change.

So please feel free to share your reason's why you have gotten your tattoos. I would love to hear people's reasons.

Alright I know I covered this yesterday but since I am on the topic of tattoos and pregnancy I thought this would be as good of time as any to talk more about tattoos on the stomach. I mean we all know what happens to your stomach when you get pregnant. It stretches and gets really big, so naturally your tattoo is going to stretch and get bigger as well. The one question I want to know is�.will your tattoo go back down to regular size after you have had the baby and lost all the baby weight?

I have researched his topic and have found that it really depends on the person. It seems that different women have different results when it comes to their stomach tattoos. For instance, some say that after they have lost their baby weight the tattoo goes back to normal. While others say their tattoo faded a bit and stretched out a little. So I guess it really depends on how much weight you gain and how much your stomach stretches. But to be on the safe side when you are younger just try to refrain from getting a tattoo on your stomach or in any area that maybe affected if you become pregnant. However, if you find youself having a brain fart when getting a tattoo and get one on your stomach anyways, I have heard that some mothers keep their stomaches very moisturized and that seems to help with the stretching of the tattoo.

I have read several articles all over the internet claiming that a large amount of people around the world are having severe allergic reactions to henna tattoos. Granted most of these people have traveled out of the United States to somewhere in Asia. A nine year old girl from Greece got a henna tattoo and within hours of getting it, It blistered and when the blisters popped the ink began to scab off. Then it got redder and hotter. They went to a doctor and the docotor advised them to go to a burn unit at the hospital. Doctors are concerned that this temporary tattoo is going to scare this little girl for life.

There is also another horrible story about a 10 year old boy from Australia that is experience something a little different than blisters, very dark hair is growing around the henna tattoo. Dermatologists say these horrible allergic reactions are being caused by the toxic dye para-phenylenediamine, or PPD, that these people are using while giving people these henna tattoos. This toxic dye is similar to the dye that is used in hair dye. Also experts are suggesting that these places in Asia are using black ink and not the traditional brown ink.

So the best advise dermatologists and parents who have children that have had reactions to these henna tattoos is just to avoid them all together, especially if you are out of the country. Also if you notice the ink they are using is black is another huge indication to stay away from them. If you want a fake tattoo just stick to the original temporary ones.

Alright the reason I bring this up is because my husband and I are toying around with the idea of trying to have a baby in a year or so. So that got me thinking, are there any risks or anything else I should know about regarding tattoos and pregnancy.

First and foremost I have found out that if for some ridiculous reason you want to get a new tattoo while you are pregnant you will more than likely have a hard time finding a tattoo artist that will actually do it. There isn't really any rules or laws pertaining to pregnant women getting a tattoo but most artist feel it isn't worth the risk and that you should wait until after the baby is born to get your tattoo.

Also another interesting thing I found out is that there is some kind of myth going around that if you have a back tattoo that you can not get an epidural. There have only been a few studies conducted on this matter and of those studies nothing conclusively found any data that shows that there are risks, so most anesthesiologists have no problem giving an epidural to a woman with a back tattoo. But just in case you are worried about this you should contact your local hospital or doctor and see what they say. I know someone you has a tattoo on her lower back and she had an epidural without any problems so I don't really see what the fuss is about.

The reason I bring this question up is because I was at a funeral over the weekend, my 5th funeral I have been to in a year, but that besides the point. Anyways there was this women there that had a fairly large tattoo on her lower arm, two fairly big tattoos on either side of her neck and one pretty big on her chest by her collar bone. For some unknown reason I felt that maybe she should have covered them up. I don't really know why I felt this way because I am a tattoo lover and I don't have a problem with them. But I feel and please understand this is my opinion so don't write me hate comments. That when you are at a funeral or wedding or some other important function that your tattoo should be covered up is possible. Am I right to feel this way. I mean I know I have the right to feel any way I want, but I want to know if anyone else out there in the tattoo community feels this way too.

Is there really a time and a place that you should show off your tattoos? Or should people just get over the fact that you have them and mind their own business? So please don't be shy and express to me how you feel about this subject. I would love to know if I'm the only one that feels this way.
