No Tattoos At School

6:15 AM

Okay, I will admit I'm a little perturb this morning. I read an article this morning stating that a school is having a board meeting sometime this week regarding making a policy about their students HAVING to cover up their tattoos. However, there is some sweet justice to this it seems that the principle of the school doesn't necessarily have a problem with his students having these tattoos, as long as they are not vulgar or obscene images. He stated that the decision for his students to have tattoos are up to the student and their parents not him. It was stated in this article that tattoos can fall under the dress code and if something is considered disruptive then the principle can take any kind of action he wishes.

I think this is all hogwash. I mean schools make up ridiculous rules that students have to follow. Like for instance when I was in high school you were not allowed to wear tank tops. Yes, you heard me. We are not allowed to wear tank tops. I mean what possible reason could the school have for you not wearing a tank top? This is kind of how I feel about the whole tattoo thing. The students are not hurting anyone and I don't really see how the tattoo can be disruptive. Yeah some students may stare at it and ask the student who has it about it but after that nothing is going to be said about the tattoo. In my opinion I think its just parents that have nothing else better to do and for some strange reason are living in the dark ages, because tattoos are ACCEPTED in this day and time, so get over it.

A Celebration of Life Begins With Lunch

6:15 AM

On an ordinary afternoon in St. Augustine, Fla., a group of extraordinary people met at a local restaurant for a single purpose - to celebrate their accomplishments, share inspiration and encourage each other while enjoying a meal.

They came for their weekly Friday lunch from all walks of life: parents and realtors, mortgage brokers and doctor's assistants, life coaches and flower shop employees. Many represented their own entrepreneurial ventures such as jewelry making, business coaching, spas and health clubs. Regardless of where they came from, they were there for each other, to spend an hour in support and fellowship.

These weekly luncheons are held in five other cities, sponsored by the organization Women Celebrations and attended by both men and women. Each luncheon has a theme that suggests the independence and success to which all people aspire, according to founder Sheryl Lynn. Themes have been as varied as 'magnificence,' 'confidence' and 'work.' At an 'applause' themed gathering, each attendee explained to the group why he or she deserved applause.

Members talked about moving from out of state and changing careers, business successes and personal joys. Each of the speakers received heartfelt applause as they took a moment to 'stand in their power,' Lynn's expression for people's ability to find success and empowerment within themselves.

It was the need to celebrate everyday things that inspired Lynn to create Women Celebrations. Despite success as a mother of three and an entrepreneur, at the end of the day she felt exhausted and disheartened.

'I was not patting myself on the back upon the completion of these marvelous things. And certainly no one else was either,' Lynn said.

In starting Women Celebrations, she created an environment in which support and encouragement played a vital role.

Today, Women Celebrations has a strong presence in northern Florida and more chapters, or 'loops,' are appearing across the country. The organization is open to everyone wishing to celebrate their lives, share their experiences with others through positive interaction and build a sense of community.

Tattoo Discrimination

6:15 AM

Okay, all of us tattoo lover's and people who have tattoos will probably agree with me on this one. Does it seem that lately there are more places banning tattoos? First schools, then the military and now firemen. I mean correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that discrimination? Just because someone has a little bit of ink or heck a lot of ink doesn't mean they can't perform a job adequately.

So does this mean that all those tattoo barriers that were broken to make them acceptable are now slowly coming back up? I mean it seems like people are just not getting the whole concept of tattoos and tattooing. But I'm here to say that tattoos are becoming even more popular than ever and people are just going to have to get over it. But I feel like someone who has been discriminated against because of a tattoo should take a stand and go to court because of it, so this none sense will just stop. It is our right as Americans to be able to get a tattoo and express our selves and if someone can not deal with it than they have got some serious problems and need to put their priories back in order.

I say that all us tattoo people need to take a stand and stand up for our rights. If someone has a problem with one of your tattoos that is their problem not yours. After all you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Also take Thumper's mom's advice, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Tattoos and Bug Bites

6:15 AM

I know this might sound a little strange and weird. But I bring this up because I was outside playing with my dog last night and got a mostique bite on my tattoo that I have on my shoulder. Now I'm not too sure if I'm the only one this happens too, but I swear I am allergic to mostique. Every time one bites me I swell up where they bite me and it itches really bad. Well to the tattoo part. Since the bit was ironically right in the middle of my tattoo, my tattoo decided to get all raised and bumpy. So I was wondering if this has happened to someone else. I will admit that my tattoo will get raised and bumpy on it's own sometime without the bug bite.

However, I have read that this is normal and there is nothing to be scared of. It has to do with something with the ink. Honestly I don't think people really know why this happens but it does and you shouldn't be alarmed by it. Well back to the bug bite. Usually, what I do is grab a piece of ice and rub it across my tattoo for a while and then dry it off and put some lotion on it and the bumpiness usually goes away.

So the moral of this story is don't fret if you notice your tattoo getting raised and bumpy from a bug bite. Nothing is wrong and it will go down soon. However, the only time you should worry about your tattoo getting raised, bumpy and itchy is after you have gotten the tattoo, Which this reaction may indicate that your are allergic to the ink and you should contact a doctor asap.

Celebrity Tattoos: Christina Aguilera

6:15 AM

Since it is Wednesday it is time for another celebrity tattoo post. I will be honest I knew that Christina had two tattoos but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she has a total of five. This just goes to show that you can have tattoos and people not know about it. Also I think Christina tries really hard to cover her tats up. It's been reported that she buys special make up to cover up her tattoos because Hollywood still sees tattoos as a no no if you have too many.

Anyways, Christina has 'Xtina' tattooed on the back of her neck, small sort of very small flower on her wrist, an unknown design on you bikini line, a tattoo on her left forearm that reads 'Te Amo Siempre' which is Spanish for 'I love you always'. In the middle of the tattoo she's got the two Hebrew letters 'Y' and 'B', which are now hubby Jordan Bartman's initials. She also has 'I am my beloved and my beloved is mine' tattooed in Hebrew on the small of her back.

Christina says that her and Jordan decided to get tattoo for each other as wedding presents. Jordan got 'I love CA forever' tattooed in Hebrew on him and she got 'I am my beloved and my beloved is mine' on the small of her back. They decided to get inked to remember their special day of becoming husband and wife. I do think it is rather sweet that they got these tattoos, so I hope that they will stay together forever and do not regret getting those tats that they have.

An Artist Search for Happiness in Paradise

6:15 AM

EVER since the first man, Adam, lost Paradise, his descendants have been on a quest to regain what was lost. This feverish search for Paradise has spurred many artists to try to find it in their painting. One such painter was the famous 19th-century artist Paul Gauguin.

About two years ago, hundreds of visitors, including amateur painters, went in two ships to the tiny island of Hiva Oa, one of the Marquesas Islands, in French Polynesia. It was on this island that Gauguin died in 1903. On the centennial of his death, the inauguration of the cultural center that bears his name is what attracted these visitors so fascinated with his work.

Where Is Paradise?

But why did Gauguin more than a century ago flee Europe to end his days on this peaceful island in the South Pacific? After a difficult existence as a poor artist in Europe, Gauguin came to despise his own civilization. He disdained what he saw as the narrow-minded conventions of European culture and its established order. Gauguin reached this conclusion after his first visit to Tahiti, which lasted about two years. Following his return to Europe, he decided: 'Nothing will keep me from leaving, and for good. What a stupid existence we have here in Europe!' He expressed his rejection of Western values, and along with many people in the Europe of his time, Gauguin shared the dream of a long-lost paradise where one would be sheltered from the harmful effects of civilization. Gauguin hoped to fulfill his desire for paradise in a garden of delights in the Pacific where peace and sun would reign. He yearned for this beautiful exile, his ideal place for painting.

Gauguin thought, like many others of his time, that living far from established civilization and in harmony with nature is better because of the simplicity of that life. Since the Polynesians lived close to nature and in harmony with it, some people thought that they could do only good. Their innocent simplicity and gentle disposition seemed to represent the perfect world. Gauguin was in search of such happiness. Agonizingly, however, he was still searching for answers to the mystery of existence and human destiny and the remedy for despair and fear of death.

Gauguin found a source of inspiration in the South Seas. This environment engendered within him an artistic rebirth. One of his preferred subjects was the simple beauty of the people. The faces that he painted gave the impression of serenity, confidence, and satisfaction. Through his canvases, Gauguin wanted to convey a pictorial expression of a legendary world, a dreamlike atmosphere of peace under tropical skies.

True Happiness

Did Gauguin find true happiness in Tahiti or Hiva Oa or on any other island? He was forced to realize that even on these small tropical islands, all life succumbs to death. Perfection is not of this world. At one point in his early years in Tahiti, he wrote: 'For some time now I have been feeling gloomy, and my work is being affected. ... It is joy that's lacking.' The happy lands depicted in his paintings did not fulfill his expectations. He still felt a need for money, and he also had health problems. Even in this environment, he still could not answer the big questions regarding life. With his mind fixed on the paradox, he decided to paint a large canvas, which would become the masterpiece of his Tahitian work. It was a huge allegorical painting 12feet [3.75m] long entitled D'o venons-nous? Que sommes-nous? O allons-nous? (Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?). Through it, he attempted to formulate his incomprehension of the world, the impenetrable mystery of our existence.

Answers to the questions about life expressed by Gauguin in his paintings and by others before and after him are found in the Bible, the book in which God reveals his purpose for mankind. The answers given there are true and satisfying. They offer a sure hope for the future. Besides, they teach us that no matter where we live--in the Pacific or elsewhere--it is only by living in harmony with our Creator, Jehovah God, that we can find true happiness. Jehovah's Witnesses in French Polynesia as well as the rest of the world are happy to share this marvelous hope of a future paradise with others.

Five Reasons Why People Love Oil Paintings

6:15 AM

It is in our innate nature to appreciate art and its beauty. Some even collect works of their favorite artist. Oil painting is one of the most amazing artwork. An artist allocates tremendous amount of time in order to complete one artwork. He has to translate the image in his imagination through the strokes of his brush.

Its value is high because of the time and effort he puts in his masterpiece. If you are wondering why many love to hang an expensive canvas oil painting on their wall, here are some of the reasons why:

1. It adds color and interest on the wall. This is why most interior designers love artwork. One piece of artwork can add so much to the room. It is like an instant makeover. If you have a blank wall, an artwork can definitely add more color to it. It will also draw the attention of the people who will enter the room.

2. It transforms a room. For example, your wall painting is dark; installing a painting with light colors will brighten the room. If you have a room with a modern design, a landscape painting will bring balance the stiffness of your space. It also creates drama in a very simple area. Bedrooms look more inviting with the installation of paintings with warm sceneries.

3. It adds a touch of sophistication and elegance. This is the initial reaction you will get from the people who will enter your room. Paintings are classic displays. If you are going to put one in your room, you will surely achieve this type of environment.

4. It is an investment. If you have notice, the value of paintings increases over the years. If you have invested in genuine painting, you will surely take advantage of it in the future. Apart from that, these pieces are timeless. If you do not want to sell this piece of furniture in the future, you can always pass it on to your children.

5. It evokes various emotions from people who view it. People have different choices when it comes to art. This is because their emotion at that time is different. Usually, people choose a design of a canvas oil painting base on their emotional state. If they want to be happy, they will want to look at paintings that will make them feel that way. If they want to achieve a peaceful environment, they will consider that in making their choice.

Painting is a very nice decoration for your home. This will definitely add a new dimension to the room. It adds beauty in the room. You will also have something to look at when you are relaxing.
What is great about paintings is that it goes well with almost everything. You can find a beautiful design for a traditional or contemporary space. You can even paint your own to make it more personal. If you want to add more character, interest, and color to a room, hang a painting on your wall.

Tattoos, Tattoos Everywhere

6:15 AM

Over the weekend my husband and I attended the drag races and while we were there I couldn't help to notice all the people that had tattoos. Of course this isn't new to me because I am a tattoo lover and I know 36% of people from the ages of 18 to 35 have at least one tattoo. But what I found most interesting is the designs that people have. And the coolest thing about it is every tattoo is unique and different. As I have mentioned before tattoo designs are practically endless. But when you are out somewhere and actually get to see all the designs people have its cool, at least it is to me. And a lot of these people had more than one tattoo, which is very common. Also one thing that I found very interesting is that a vast majority of these people had tattoos on their legs, mainly the back of the calf.

Another thing that I noticed was that most of the men there had black tattoos while the women had colored ones. Which this could mean nothing or it could mean that women prefer colored ink over black ink. Which I do not fall in that catogory. For some reason I prefer my tattoos to be in black ink. And as the statistics suggest most of these people were women. For some reason more 18 to 35 year olds that have tattoos are women. And interestingly enough more women regret their tattoos and have them removed more often than a man.

I just thought I would share this because it's always nice to see these statistics in real life. If that makes any sense.

How Much Do Tattoo's Cost?

6:15 AM

I get this question a lot from people who see my tattoos. After they ask me all the normal questions, did it hurt, how long did it take and so on. They always ask how much did it cost? Well I'm here to tell you there really isn't a set rate to how much a tattoo cost. It all depends on the artist really. If you are going to a very well known experienced artist you can expect to pay $180 an hour and up. You also have to take in consideration how big the tattoo is and how many colors are going to be used. Also if you want some sort of custom tattoo that the artist has to draw out you will be looking at a bigger price tag than if you picked something off the wall.

Now probably what you all want to know, how much did I pay for my tattoos? I have no problem sharing. I paid $50 for my first tattoo which is a Lion's head on my left shoulder blade and I paid $75 for my Libra Scales I have on the lower part of my back. Both of my tattoos took about 10 minutes a piece and they are not very big. So I hope this gives you a little insight on how much money you are going to spend on a tattoo. Just keep this in mind, you get what you pay for. Chances are if you are paying under $50 for a tattoo you may not be getting good quality work. Not unless you are just getting something very small like a star, intial or something along those lines.

Psychic Readers Predict The Future But You Create Destiny

6:15 AM

Has a psychic ever told you something incredibly amazing about your future that is hard to imagine as true? Or warned you, perhaps frightened you about the future by reading an awful outcome to a situation? Did you know whether to believe the prediction or not? Sooner or later most of us who use the services of a psychic reader are likely to encounter this type of experience even if you have never been to a psychic or think you will ever go to one.

More and more, people are seeking answers for their problems through the venue of the paranormal. There are unexplainable experiences reported every day, as well as, insurmountable problems challenging our coping skills in this rapidly changing world. Therefore, there is a good chance that one of these situations may eventually drive you to seek the services of a psychic, whether you think you would or not. Should you believe a psychic's fateful predictions? If so, can the future be changed?

People tend to think the future is predetermined. Therefore, it can not be changed. That statement couldn't be any further from the truth. Psychics don't predict the future. Instead, they predict the probability of the future. Psychics read the future based on the current path you are on at the moment of the reading. If you make a decision that takes you off that path, more than likely the predicted future will no longer be accurate.

What really is the future? There is no set time that we can actually label and claim as the future. Think about what happens to time when you read a page in a book. Before you read the book the first page is the future. While you are reading it, the page can be described as the present. Once you have finished reading it, the page now represents the past. The future isn't a constant, because it is fluid and always moving.

Why go to a psychic if the future isn't engraved in stone? Think of a prediction as a mechanism that can provide a meaningful insight or some self-knowledge not consciously apparent to you. For example, a positive prediction can be a motivating force or something that offers you hope. On the other hand, a negative prediction can offer a chance for you to grow emotionally and spiritually. It can be a warning for you to thwart a foreseeable problem by taking a different course of action.

When you go to a psychic, remember to keep the predictions in perspective. Your thoughts and actions today can actually create the destiny you must then meet in the future. The next time a psychic predicts a car accident for your future, take some action. You can watch your speed, drive defensively and be alert as a way to avoid your 'so-called' fate. Remember: You are more in control of your destiny than you think.

The Madness of Playing Games

6:15 AM

If a lone, unkempt, person, standing on a soapbox were to say that he should become the Prime Minister, he would have been diagnosed by a passing psychiatrist as suffering from this or that mental disturbance. But were the same psychiatrist to frequent the same spot and see a crowd of millions saluting the same lonely, shabby figure - what would have his diagnosis been? Surely, different (perhaps of a more political hue).

It seems that one thing setting social games apart from madness is quantitative: the amount of the participants involved. Madness is a one-person game, and even mass mental disturbances are limited in scope. Moreover, it has long been demonstrated (for instance, by Karen Horney) that the definition of certain mental disorders is highly dependent upon the context of the prevailing culture. Mental disturbances (including psychoses) are time-dependent and locus-dependent. Religious behaviour and romantic behaviour could be easily construed as psychopathologies when examined out of their social, cultural, historical and political contexts.

Historical figures as diverse as Nietzsche (philosophy), Van Gogh (art), Hitler (politics) and Herzl (political visionary) made this smooth phase transition from the lunatic fringes to centre stage. They succeeded to attract, convince and influence a critical human mass, which provided for this transition. They appeared on history's stage (or were placed there posthumously) at the right time and in the right place. The biblical prophets and Jesus are similar examples though of a more severe disorder. Hitler and Herzl possibly suffered from personality disorders - the biblical prophets were, almost certainly, psychotic.

We play games because they are reversible and their outcomes are reversible. No game-player expects his involvement, or his particular moves to make a lasting impression on history, fellow humans, a territory, or a business entity. This, indeed, is the major taxonomic difference: the same class of actions can be classified as 'game' when it does not intend to exert a lasting (that is, irreversible) influence on the environment. When such intention is evident - the very same actions qualify as something completely different. Games, therefore, are only mildly associated with memory. They are intended to be forgotten, eroded by time and entropy, by quantum events in our brains and macro-events in physical reality.

Games - as opposed to absolutely all other human activities - are entropic. Negentropy - the act of reducing entropy and increasing order - is present in a game, only to be reversed later. Nowhere is this more evident than in video games: destructive acts constitute the very foundation of these contraptions. When children start to play (and adults, for that matter - see Eric Berne's books on the subject) they commence by dissolution, by being destructively analytic. Playing games is an analytic activity. It is through games that we recognize our temporariness, the looming shadow of death, our forthcoming dissolution, evaporation, annihilation.

These FACTS we repress in normal life - lest they overwhelm us. A frontal recognition of them would render us speechless, motionless, paralysed. We pretend that we are going to live forever, we use this ridiculous, counter-factual assumption as a working hypothesis. Playing games lets us confront all this by engaging in activities which, by their very definition, are temporary, have no past and no future, temporally detached and physically detached. This is as close to death as we get.

Small wonder that rituals (a variant of games) typify religious activities. Religion is among the few human disciplines which tackle death head on, sometimes as a centrepiece (consider the symbolic sacrifice of Jesus). Rituals are also the hallmark of obsessive-compulsive disorders, which are the reaction to the repression of forbidden emotions (our reaction to the prevalence, pervasiveness and inevitability of death is almost identical). It is when we move from a conscious acknowledgement of the relative lack of lasting importance of games - to the pretension that they are important, that we make the transition from the personal to the social.

The way from madness to social rituals traverses games. In this sense, the transition is from game to myth. A mythology is a closed system of thought, which defines the 'permissible' questions, those that can be asked. Other questions are forbidden because they cannot be answered without resorting to another mythology altogether.

Observation is an act, which is the anathema of the myth. The observer is presumed to be outside the observed system (a presumption which, in itself, is part of the myth of Science, at least until the Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics was developed).

A game looks very strange, unnecessary and ridiculous from the vantage-point of an outside observer. It has no justification, no future, it looks aimless (from the utilitarian point of view), it can be compared to alternative systems of thought and of social organization (the biggest threat to any mythology). When games are transformed to myths, the first act perpetrated by the group of transformers is to ban all observations by the (willing or unwilling) participants.

Introspection replaces observation and becomes a mechanism of social coercion. The game, in its new guise, becomes a transcendental, postulated, axiomatic and doctrinaire entity. It spins off a caste of interpreters and mediators. It distinguishes participants (formerly, players) from outsiders or aliens (formerly observers or uninterested parties). And the game loses its power to confront us with death. As a myth it assumes the function of repression of this fact and of the fact that we are all prisoners. Earth is really a death ward, a cosmic death row: we are all trapped here and all of us are sentenced to die.

Today's telecommunications, transportation, international computer networks and the unification of the cultural offering only serve to exacerbate and accentuate this claustrophobia. Granted, in a few millennia, with space travel and space habitation, the walls of our cells will have practically vanished (or become negligible) with the exception of the constraint of our (limited) longevity. Mortality is a blessing in disguise because it motivates humans to act in order 'not to miss the train of life' and it maintains the sense of wonder and the (false) sense of unlimited possibilities.

This conversion from madness to game to myth is subjected to meta-laws that are the guidelines of a super-game. All our games are derivatives of this super-game of survival. It is a game because its outcomes are not guaranteed, they are temporary and to a large extent not even known (many of our activities are directed at deciphering it). It is a myth because it effectively ignores temporal and spatial limitations. It is one-track minded: to foster an increase in the population as a hedge against contingencies, which are outside the myth.

All the laws, which encourage optimization of resources, accommodation, an increase of order and negentropic results - belong, by definition to this meta-system. We can rigorously claim that there exist no laws, no human activities outside it. It is inconceivable that it should contain its own negation (Godel-like), therefore it must be internally and externally consistent. It is as inconceivable that it will be less than perfect - so it must be all-inclusive. Its comprehensiveness is not the formal logical one: it is not the system of all the conceivable sub-systems, theorems and propositions (because it is not self-contradictory or self-defeating). It is simply the list of possibilities and actualities open to humans, taking their limitations into consideration. This, precisely, is the power of money. It is - and always has been - a symbol whose abstract dimension far outweighed its tangible one.

This bestowed upon money a preferred status: that of a measuring rod. The outcomes of games and myths alike needed to be monitored and measured. Competition was only a mechanism to secure the on-going participation of individuals in the game. Measurement was an altogether more important element: the very efficiency of the survival strategy was in question. How could humanity measure the relative performance (and contribution) of its members - and their overall efficiency (and prospects)? Money came handy. It is uniform, objective, reacts flexibly and immediately to changing circumstances, abstract, easily transformable into tangibles - in short, a perfect barometer of the chances of survival at any given gauging moment. It is through its role as a universal comparative scale - that it came to acquire the might that it possesses.

Money, in other words, had the ultimate information content: the information concerning survival, the information needed for survival. Money measures performance (which allows for survival enhancing feedback). Money confers identity - an effective way to differentiate oneself in a world glutted with information, alienating and assimilating. Money cemented a social system of monovalent rating (a pecking order) - which, in turn, optimized decision making processes through the minimization of the amounts of information needed to affect them. The price of a share traded in the stock exchange, for instance, is assumed (by certain theoreticians) to incorporate (and reflect) all the information available regarding this share. Analogously, we can say that the amount of money that a person has contains sufficient information regarding his or her ability to survive and his or her contribution to the survivability of others. There must be other - possibly more important measures of that - but they are, most probably, lacking: not as uniform as money, not as universal, not as potent, etc.

Money is said to buy us love (or to stand for it, psychologically) - and love is the prerequisite to survival. Very few of us would have survived without some kind of love or attention lavished on us. We are dependent creatures throughout our lives. Thus, in an unavoidable path, as humans move from game to myth and from myth to a derivative social organization - they move ever closer to money and to the information that it contains. Money contains information in different modalities. But it all boils down to the very ancient question of the survival of the fittest.

Celebirty Tattoos: Tommy Lee

6:15 AM

It's time for another edition of celebrity tattoo. Today I decided to do Tommy Lee, mainly because I have been watching this show called Battleground Earth that comes on the Green Channel that stars Tommy Lee and Ludacris. I think it is safe to say that we all know that Tommy Lee pretty much has half if not more than half of his body covered in tattoos.

However, I wasn't able to find a list of all the tattoos Tommy has, Tommy himself has even lost count. But I do know that he has Mayhem tattooed across his stomach, he has an ex-girlfriends lips tattooed on his neck. He has Brandon on one wrist and Dylan on another. Interesting note, he had both Brandon and Dylan write their names out and he took those to a tattoo artist and had him tattoo them on his wrist. And he has a huge tribal design covering almost all of his back. He also has two stars on each hand. This is pretty much all I know. Because the tattoo sleeves he has on his arms are pretty hard to make out. He also has several tattoos on his legs too but I'm not too sure what they are.

Tommy recently developed a clothing line called TL for PL and guess what the inspiration of his clothing line was? His Tattoos.

'I lost count a long time ago of how many I have. They're all beautiful things. I love animals, and so there is everything from koi fish to leopards. There are cherry blossoms. I love flowers. There are dragons. There is fire and water. These are things that I will always love to look at, and hopefully people will love to wear.'

How to get the fresh new look of your home decoration by Retro Rugs and Luxury Rugs

6:15 AM

If you are making a alliance of wall art pieces, then come up with the design by laying them on the floor beforehand to determine how they look best. To enhance your Retro home decorating theme, try adding atomic clocks and artwork here and there.
Retro Rugs add a great touch and look charming in any room not the least of which is the bedroom, bathroom and dining room. In the bedroom, pile them at the head of the bed. In the kitchen or bathroom, a small pillow places strategically on a hamper or chair serves to add an interesting touch. Pillows on your sofa or chair may help insert the Retro decorating sense to the furniture. Purchasing pillows that use pop art or retro fabric will help add interest and drama.
When obtaining your decorative pieces, though, you want to be positive they are in keeping with the decorating scheme and have some sort of coordinating principles with each other. Go with on theme pieces solely in order to attain the design style you are going for.You can infuse your own distinct personality to the design by selecting knick knacks that reflect your personal style. Look at shopping at thrift stores or garage sales for those interesting items that won't take all your money.
Making the most of vintage pieces can add a professional style to your Retro home decorating theme. But before you go out and shop for a lot of stuff, you want to get an idea of what types of pieces you want and purchase those pieces. When adding accessories, proportion is crucial so make sure you look for items in the sizes you need. If you fix to these rules, you'll be able to adorn your room with decorative pieces that work interesting with each other.
One of the biggest untapped markets is the retro market. Those old items from the 70s and early 80s are really a hot item these days. You can often times find these types of items at garage sales where people are declaring all of this older stuff as junk, yet they could be worth hundreds if not even thousands of dollars in added value to your home.
Luxury rugs can be beautiful, functional and fun. When shopping for large bath rugs you will be faced with many choices from the very Luxury to the ultra chic and everything in between.
Your choice in a soft bath rug sets the tone for your bathroom decoration. Luxury rugs give the bath room a more elegant look and with a few nice accessories and some new luxury towels can give your bathroom an 'instant remodel'. Retro rugs are better for the environment. Since they are made from 100% organically grown cotton you can be sure that no animals or people were made to suffer the ill effects of pesticide spraying in order to make your towels.
Luxury rugs are the most absorbent rugs money can buy so your bath room floor stays drier. This helps to cut down mold and mildew in the bath room and prevents slipping in a puddle of water after a shower. In addition to being ultra absorbent, bamboo bathroom rugs are incredibly soft and retain color well.
There are many reasons to choose luxury bath rugs to decorate your bath room. Whether you choose large bath rugs made from bamboo, organic cotton or Egyptian cotton a luxury bathroom rug will add elegance and style to your bath room's look. These will also keep your bath room dry and comfortable.
Luxury rugs also come in durable qualities and with very easy procedures to care of them. One such example is the dynamic rug. It has soft yarn which is mildew proof and easy to clean. They have good warmth retention quality, making a bathroom experience pleasurable. Due to its non slip latex, it has the properties that will see you not breaking your leg while getting a clean. Its multi acrylics yarn gives it the properties that make it quite dynamic. It is easy to clean using mild action detergent and you can hang or tumble dry. It does not need bleaching or ironing.
You can view a variety of rugs you wish to purchase on the internet, where a colorful and entertaining view awaits you. Color brightens the world and coupled with artistic designs, bathroom rugs can become very inviting. Matching your rugs with a certain theme will rejuvenate your bathroom.

Celebrity Tattoos: Johnny Depp

6:15 AM

Well you all know what today is. It's Wednesday so that means it's time for another edition of celebrity tattoos. This week I decided to go with Johnny Depp. I have had a crush on his since the 21 Jump Street Days and the man seems to get better looking the older he gets. Not to mention that Johnny just nailed the top position of being the highest paid actor in Hollywood right now. Johnny is earning $50 million a picture now. Well if you are a fan of Johnny Depp you know that he has quit a bit of tattoos.

Johnny has 14 known tattoos to date. The most famous of those 14 is probably the Wino Forver tattoo he has on his arm. Which used to read Winona Forvever. He also has a Cherokee Indian Chief in full headdress below the Wino Forever tattoo on his arm. This one is to remember his ancestral cultural heritage.

Johnny also has several tattoos that pertain to his family. He has Lily Rose his daughters name tattooed over his heart. He has his son's name Jack tattooed his forearm with a Sparrow flying over water above that one. He also has a tattoo of Betty Sue which is his mother in the middle of a heart on his bicep. Above that there is some sort of triangle tattoo. He also has the symbol for The Brave a movie he did tattooed on the inside of his forearm.

Johnny also has some random tattoos on his body. Like the three rectangles on his right index finger and the number three between his thumb and index finger on his left hand. Johnny also has a skull and cross bones tattoo on his lower right leg that reads death is certain and some sort of symbol or something on his right ankle.

Johnny explains the reasoning behind all of his tattoos and why he has so many:

'My body is a journal in a way. It's like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, a specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist'.

No Age Limit For Tattooing In Sweden

6:15 AM

If you live in the United States you are probably aware that the legal age for someone to get a tattoo is 18 years old. Well I actually didn't really give this any thought until I was checking out the tattoo news for today. But apparently in Sweden there is no age limit for someone to get a tattoo. But this could change in the future. Due to some parents of underage (kids under 18) beingfurious about their children coming home with tattoos. One mother went so far as to calling the police. But there is not a law specifying a person has to be to get a tattoo. Here's what a policeman had to say about that complaint.

'There is nothing in the law which says you are breaking the law if you tattoo someone underage,' Lars Andersson of the H?ssleholm police told the paper.

So this got me thinking do you think there should be an age limit on someone getting a tattoo? I personally think their should be. I mean we wouldn't want 12 year olds walking around with their bodies covered in tattoos would we. I mean as teenagers you change you mind ever week so getting a tattoo before you are 18 could result in a huge regret of whatever you got inked on your body. Plus if you are really set on getting a tattoo as a teenager you will have plenty of time to think about it before you turn 18, so hopefully this will provide a less of a chance of you regretting what you got.

FireFighters Force To Cover Up Tattoos

6:15 AM

This is completely ridiculous if you ask me. It seems that our Firefighter that live in Los Angles are being forced to cover up their tattoos when they are one the job, on call, or hanging out at the fire station. Some extremely ridiculous rule was passed banning firefighters to have their tattoos visible while on the job. This has forced many firefighter to have to wear turtle necks, gloves or bandages to comply with this nonsense rule. It also seems that a lot of these tattooed firefighters are being harassed because out their body art.

What in the world is going on people? This is 2008 not 1950. Tattoos are a way of life and right for anyone to have and not to mention that they are widely accepted not looked down upon. Trust me if someone was pulled out of a burning building by a firefighter that was covered in tattoos or had one on their neck or some other visible place I don't think the rescuee would take offense to it. So this leads to say to those in charge of creating this rule that is not hurting or causing harm to anyone. Honestly, is it really worth all this trouble? If you answered yes then you need some serious help and need to start thinking about other ways to control firemen. How about working on a way for them to make more money? That seems like a better use of your time.

The Essence of Freedom

6:15 AM

Life is too hard and too risky in the eyes of many. By contrast, others are such proponents of a virile existence, demanding great courage and giving great pride, that they are ready to leave the coziness of their home to scale Mount Everest and breast the elements for the sheer joy of conquering the summit. Whatever the perspective, the nature of things remains unchanged. There are rules, necessities and duties, and limits, possibilities and impossibilities. Until doom, one can accept them and make the best of them, much to one's pleasure and honor, or one can do the opposite and suffer the consequences. The choice between these two options is the very essence of freedom. Personally, I have no use for the second option: a self-inflicted misery that is without the slightest doubt a pitiable way of life.

The first option, on the other hand, is a pleasurable and honorable alternative that I find compelling, though uphill. It is applicable to any situation encountered in the course of one's living venture, provided one is not unfortunate to the point of being hopelessly unable to cope. The range of this applicability corresponds with the range of one's adaptability. It is normally considerable, despite the tendency to cling to old gratifying habits even after they have become impracticable or unsuitable, owing to a change of situation. One can be weaned from such habits onto new gratifying habits, in the same way as a baby can be weaned onto solids. The more the change is significant and one is reluctant to adapt to it, the more the weaning process is difficult and long in producing the desired effect. Again, the only option worthy of one's attention consists in taking things as they come and making the most of them, for one's sake and that of others. The reverse is foolish and harmful, a deplorable waste of humanity.

On the whole, the power to live in a well-adjusted and high-minded way and the freedom to choose this way in preference to the alternate, illegitimate, way are the foundations of the life one builds. The exercise of this power does not necessarily imply a principled resignation toward the status quo. One may be faced with a remediable evil that calls for a struggle to remedy it, effectively and rightly. In that case, living in a well-adjusted and high-minded way entails accepting the need for this struggle and the means of waging it, and sparing no effort to attain one's end. Ills are a test of will, an opportunity to show dignity.

They are also an opportunity to probe and appraise one's inner resources. Over the years, I have improved my situation and especially my attitude, whose negativity was the most unfavorable and improvable aspect of my life. In so doing, I have discovered my true richness. Nature has endowed me with an adaptable capacity for happiness within the limits of my changeable reality. According to my observations, this capacity is not unusually great, compared with that of most people. I am even tempted to think it is somewhat lagging behind. Eleven years plus to adapt in triumph to my physical disability is no feat for the Guinness Book of World Records!

During that time, the riddle of life had more or less baffled me. Yet, laboriously, with the help of many books and much thought, I had managed by degrees to clear it up, enough to find a meaning to my life. This riddle is comparable to a mire: The slower you go through it, the deeper you get into it. Perhaps thinkers are commonly untalented in the art of living and their saving grace is their dogged determination to redeem this lack of talent by dint of studying the human soul. Amusingly enough, these untalented individuals are often perceived as gifted, once they have seen the light and reflected it with the numerous mirrors of an elaborate analysis, after a tentative and protracted search in the dark.

This sort of overcompensation is typical of people who experience difficulties in a certain area, but refuse to admit defeat. While some fare well in this area with a minimum of effort, they try hard to overcome these difficulties, with the result that they often fare better than the others. Their redeeming feature is their willpower in the face of their shortcoming, which they use as a reason to redouble their efforts, not as an excuse to throw in the towel. This is a recipe for a worthy success. They discipline and surpass themselves, and thus proudly turn things around.

Be Extra Careful With Asian Tattoos

6:15 AM

I will admit that I have wanted to get some sort of Asian type tattoo because I think the Asian symbols are really cool. Plus it is a great conversation piece because people will also want to know your tattoo says/means. But to be honest you have got to be super careful about what you get tattooed on you. Mainly, because there are a lot of cases where people get some Asian symbol tattooed on them thinking it means something to find out later that it means something completely different and often something embarrassing.

So if you want to get an Asian type tattoo you need to make 200% sure what you are getting is really what you think you are getting. I would first do a lot of research about what word you want and make sure that every search you find is the same symbol. Or even better, if you know someone of Asian descent then ask them for clarification. I for one wanted to get the symbols for Karma tattooed on me but after doing research I found several different symbols. So to be on the safe side, I decided not to get that because I didn't want to be walking around with a tattoo that I thought said Karma and in reality meant evil one or something like that. Also you have got to take in consideration that some American words may not translate in Asian culture so you might have to think of something else. So if you want some sort of Asian styled tattoo make sure you know what you are getting into.

A Less Painful Way To Get Rid Of Tattoos

6:15 AM

I am super shocked about this, apparently there is a new way for you to get rid of an unwanted tattoo. And it does not included going to several laser removal sessions. I have just read an article claiming that there is a cream that can be injecting into your tattoo and it will literally push out the ink to the surface of your skin and will leave your skin scar free and have no evidence of a tattoo every being there.

Supposedly, there are some cosmetic surgeons that say they can get rid of the ink by injecting your skin with a cream which softens the ink and pushes it to the surface. And within six to eight weeks after a scab falls off the ink from your tattoo falls off with it and you are left with non noticeable tattoo free skin.

Some experts claim that this new procedure has been used here in the United States and that it is much cheaper and a lot less painful than the laser removal option and it also has little to no scarring compared to laser removal.

This new treatment is currently being done in London. Stuart Harrison, director of Oxford Skin Clinics, said: 'This works by using the body's natural processes. The reason the tattoo stays there is that a coating is put around the link to protect it from the body's immune response.

'But this cream makes the ink identifiable to the body so that it realises the ink is there and starts rejecting it and healing itself.'

Sturwart also added how the process feels,

'It is uncomfortable rather than painful, but it is less painful than having the tattoo itself and certainly a lot less painful than having laser treatment.

So if you have any unwanted tattoos on your body maybe you should look into this procedure.
